Frances is survived by her: devoted husband of 29 years, Thomas Lee Porter; their two sons, Anthony Scott and Jason Todd; and three grandchildren, Marley Cole, Dylan Thomas, and Catlin Marie; in addition, Frances is survived by her sister, Janie Waite of Sevierville, two brothers, Joe and Bobby Jones of Alamo, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She graduated from Alamo High School (Alamo, Tenn.) in 1966 and married in December of that same year. She traveled with her husband and boys in the Navy for nine years, until they settled down in Charlottesville, in. 1974. While in Charlottesville, Frances worked as a dental assistant for several years for John Knight and then as an insurance agent for George Norcross.

In 1993, Tom and Frances moved to Loudon, Tenn. where Frances volunteered at the Fort Sanders-Loudon Hospital. Frances fought with cancer for almost eight years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, nanny, and sister. She was also a great friend to many.

TEMPLIN, RUTH M. of Harriman, departed this vale on July 28, 1996, less than a month before her ninety-second birthday. Born fifth among the seven children of Frank and Stacy Touton Marley. She was reared in the Bluegrass Community and spent all of her adult life in Knoxville. She had most recently been a resident of Drive.

Templin and is survived by a few cousins, four generations of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. UNDERHILL, GUY JAMES age 59, of of South Knoxville, died Friday, July 26, 1996. He was a 43 year member of Church Street United Methodist Church and had retired from the University of Tennessee Agriculture Extension Service. He was a native of Fayette County and had received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee and his master's and doctorate from Harvard University.

During his career Dr. Thorpe held positions from assistant county agent through state supervisor of agents before coming to the university to teach and serve a four year term as group leader of the U.T. agriculture team in Bangalore, India, for USAID. He was preceded in death by brothers, Thurston S. Thorpe and John W.

Thorpe, and is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Jessie Barnes Thorpe; daughters and sons-in-law, Anne and Garrett Hults of Arlington, Texas, Dr. Kay and Kenneth Bannon of Gloucester, son, David Barnes Thorpe of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Mallory and Judy Thorpe of Plano, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Gary Hults, Terrence and Kay Hults, Belinda Hults O'Brien, Stephanie Hults Thompkins, Clifton and Carl Bannon, Donna Bannon Peart, Justin Mallory Thorpe, Carmen Thorpe Limke, Ryan Mallory Thorpe and Lacey Thorpe; and seven great-grandchildren, Emily and William Garrett Hults, Neal, Olivia and Dylan Bannon, Zachary and Jeffery Peart.
