Veronica Escobar (Do not DM, please see last line to apply)Congresswoman Veronica Escobar seeks an enthusiastic, highly organized, creative, and self- motivated professional to serve as a District Representative in her El Paso Office. This District Representative will implement a long-term strategic grants community engagement plan. This individual will work to disseminate information regarding available federal grants, assistinterested grant applicants in navigating the federal grant process and track awards to the El Paso community.This position also handles the local engagement portfolio for economic development, transportation, infrastructure, labor unions, housing/homelessness, tribal, and faith leadership.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:• Create community events and engagement activities to support the Congresswoman’s priorities and to promote District services and projects and attend the events of other community organizations for the same purpose.• Produce a monthly newsletter to promote grants work and highlight key successes.• Manage requests for letters of support for federal grants and track the outcomes of those proposals.• Inform the Congresswoman and the District Director of all happenings in assigned issue areas by screening district media sources and interacting with constituents.• Assess community feedback from outreach for problems requiring legislative action• Prepare periodic reports for the District Director and district activities in his or her assigned issue areas.• Maintain accurate and up-to-date database of community contacts.• Work in a flexible schedule including long hours, nights, and weekends.• Perform other duties as assigned.EDUCATION (OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE):• At least 1 year of outreach experience.• Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of related experience or training in legislation or equivalent experience.SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred;• Excellent organizational, writing, presentation and communication skills;• Ability to connect community priorities to the Congresswoman’s legislative andoversight work;• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications;WORKING CONDITIONS:• Traveling frequently to community events and organizations is expected. A significant amount of the District Representative’s time will be spent out in the community. Mileage is reimbursed.• Some work is mainly performed in an office environment.     DC JOB OPENING: DC STAFF ASSISTANT OPENING for the Congressional Office of Veronica Escobar.DEADLINE TO APPLY: Monday, April 29, 2024 by 12pm ESTThe Office of Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) has an immediate need to hire aStaff Assistantthat will be based in Washington, DC and will manage the Congresswoman’s front office toinclude duties including but not limited to:Greets constituents and visitors to provide a positive first impression of the office.Handle incoming calls and capture constituent requests. Schedules tours and process flag requests. Manage the DC intern program.Monitor and organize requests for assistance to ensure that they are directed to the appropriate staff member in a timely manner. Work with the Director of Operations to ensure constituent meetings start on time. Assist the Director of Operations in legislative correspondence as needed.Compile daily morning press clips.Other duties as assigned, including assisting with scheduling, when the Director of Operations is on travel.Strong candidates will have excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, communicate clearly in a fast-paced environment, and work effectively with different teams in both the DC and El Paso offices.This is an entry-level position and prior Hill internship is preferred.
