Hello, my name’s Gracie, I’m a 15 year old girl who’s a big fan of the YouTube animated series Helluva boss. if you don’t know what that is, it’s a show about an imp named Blitzo, who is the founder of a company in hell called I.M.P, with his employees Moxxie and his wife Millie, and his hellhound secretary and daughter Loona, they have many misadventures killing humans on earth for their job, or spending their time working with Stolas, a Goetian prince who resembles an owl. It’s a fairly popular show with 2 seasons already out, one episode of season 2, Exes And Oohs regards to Moxxie returning to his parent’s house to deal with his father Crimson, and more importantly his ex boyfriend Chazwick Thurman. I say more importantly because I had a very unnerving experience that involved this character, in fact I had a very unnerving experience with this whole episode.
It was a Friday night, one week before march 11, I was just chilling on my family’s couch, excited for the newest Helluva Boss episode to be released, I saw all the sneak peeks on Vivziepop’s (the creator of Helluva Boss as well as a show called Hazbin Hotel) Twitter account and I couldn’t wait to be able to watch it. My parents told me they were going out on a date and were trusting me to be alone in the house, I told them I was able to be left alone because I was no longer 5, so they headed out and I continued playing games on my tablet. Hours later I was listening to music on Spotify, when I got a notification from Vivziepop’s YouTube channel. It was the new Helluva boss episode! I was so excited yet confused, “I thought it was supposed to be released next week?” I thought to myself. I shrugged it off as Viv just changing the date of the episode, so I clicked on the video. I would later regret doing that.
I’ll be cliché and say the episode started off normally enough, because it was almost completely like the newer version of the episode, with the normal content warning which faded into the episode, Moxxie talking to Loona and Loona rolling her eyes at him, Millie storming in angrily and telling Moxxie she bumped into an ex, Millie knocking over Blitzo’s filing cabinet, Blitzo coming in, annoyed and yelling that he’s on the phone with a client, Moxxie picking up some of the pictures and asking what they are and Blitzo saying it’s research. Blitzo on the phone with Crimson, Crimson sending a helicopter over to take Blitzo, Moxxie and Millie to the greed ring, and them arriving at Crimson’s home and going in and them all talking for a bit. Things wouldn’t get weird until Chaz came into the frame, at first he was as goofy as he was in the newer version, but as soon as Blitzo said “are you f*cking kidding me, there’s someone who’s f*cked both of you?!” Chaz said “Hey, mind your own f*cking business, it’s not my fault you have a small dick!”
In this version, he was strangely ruder than in the newer version and strangely more possessive of Moxxie than in the newer version, I didn’t like him that much in this version, because at one moment he was goofy and lovey dovey towards Moxxie, but the next moment he was bitter and angry at everyone else, except for strangely enough, Crimson. I think it was because Chaz didn’t want to anger him, because Crimson was the same as he is in the newer version, everything else was mostly the same except it had a ruder Chaz, the dinner scene was mostly the same except before Millie pointed her knife at Chaz, he whispered in Millie’s ear calling her a slu*t. Which is something I did expect from the show, in fact the moment of Chaz calling Millie a slu*t made made me burst out laughing, but I still didn’t know what I was in for.
Crimson threatened moxxie like in the newer version, Millie and Moxxie were put in separate rooms, Chaz sang his little song for Moxxie and Moxxie threw him out of his room, when Chaz went to Millie’s room to try to seduce her, Millie pointed her knife at Chaz as he said “damn bitch is that all you know how to do?” Then he hit the ground comedically. I was giggling at this point because I did not like him, and seeing him get hurt gave me a lot of joy. When Chaz went to blitzo’s room to get him to have sex with him, he told him “ look I know we got off on the wrong foot before but trust me I know you’ll be able to pleasure me.” “what’s in it for me?” Blitzo asked. Chaz responded with the “I’ll show you all the things Moxxie liked in the sack.” And Blitzo accepted his offer. So they banged just like in the newer version, and later on when Chaz was sleeping, he snuck into Chaz’s car to find out his secrets.
Then suddenly when Blitzo found a note with Chaz’s plan on it, Chaz knocked him out with an empty beer bottle. It shattered on empact with Blitzo’s skull, making him bleed the black blood that imps normally have, his eyes rolling in the back of his head as he passed out. I gasped as that happened because I was worried for Blitzo (because he’s my favorite character). For the rest of the episode Blitzo was still bleeding from his head, he was disoriented, like he couldn’t move his arms without them flopping around, he couldn’t even walk around without stumbling. Everything else was the same as the new version, even the arranged marriage for Chaz and Moxxie being stopped by Millie and Blitzo, but as soon as Blitzo told Crimson that Chaz wasn’t rich, that is when things got really bad.
Crimson stared at Chaz with an Angry expression on his face, Chaz laughed nervously and said “I’m sure we’re just gonna laugh about this.” Crimson grabbed Chaz by the collar and screamed “YOU f*ckING LIED TO ME!?” I had to turn down the volume at this point because it was louder than the rest of the audio, but not earrape levels of loud. “But wait..I..I didn’t mean to.. I didn’t.. please.” Chaz stammered. Then Crimson yelled “Alessio!” His bodyguard grabbed chaz and pinned him to the ground as Crimson pulled out a black blood covered dagger. “You made me lose all my damn goons and lied to me about the money I would get.” Crimson said coldly. Chaz yelled out “NO! WAIT! I WANT TO LIVE!” As Crimson got closer to him, his shadow engulfed Chaz as it cut to black and Chaz screamed bloody murder as stabbing and crunching sounds could be heard from my tablet. Sounds that sounded way too real for a show.
The scene came back to Chaz lying on the ground but now in a state so horrible it looked like a crime scene, he had 20 to 30 stab marks, some long, some short which were on his chest, he was laying in a pool of his own black blood while his breath was labored, one of his arms was so horribly broken you could see the bone poking out in his skin. His tail was ripped with several wounds on his tail, it was twisted around one of his legs, which were both broken and he had huge stab marks on his legs and arms. His eyes were wide open and dilated. Chaz’s breathing felt way to real to be voice acted, it sounded like his voice actor was actually in pain recording his breathing. That was the moment where I needed to pause the video. I flipped my tablet over, got up and walked to the other side of the room.
“Omg.” I thought. “That was so disturbing, I regret laughing at Chaz getting hurt, why would Viv animate something like that?” A whole storm of thoughts brewed in my head, I felt sick to my stomach but curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to See the rest of the episode. I saw there were only four more minutes left so I decided to tough it out and watch the rest, it still showed Chaz on the ground in extreme pain until Crimson’s feet came into frame right next to Chaz’s head. Crimson pulled out the blood covered dagger and started to cut into his mouth and jaw area as slicing and squishing sounds could be heard, it made me sick just watching it, the imagery was not even that realistic, it was still animated blood and gore, but the sounds felt way too realistic, it was like someone was actually getting stabbed in the mouth.
After a while Crimson was able grab onto Chaz’s jaws and rip them out of his face as blood kept oozing out of him, with a final snap of a vain, Chaz’s jaws were out of his face. Chaz’s head flopped onto the ground blood all over his mouth area as he stopped breathing. He had bled to death. Crimson shouted to his bodyguard “find me some new goons, and please deal with that disgusting body, it’s starting to make me sick just looking at it.” His bodyguard grabbed Chaz’s dead body, crumpled his spine, then threw him Into a nearby sewage stream, his lifeless crumbled body just floating lifeless eyes staring at the sky. It showed a overhead shot of Chaz’s body just floating in the disgusting water, his eyes looking directly at me now, as he got stuck near the sewage pipe it faded into the next scene.
The scene was our main trio back at the I.M.P building after they hijacked the helicopter from the beginning, loona was giving them a shrug, which I did expect from her, Moxxie thanked Millie for saving him, Blitzo was just glad everything worked out ok, despite the fact he was sill bleeding and stumbling around, he was still able to talk and be his regular goofy self. After Blitzo said “now we all f*cked the same guy!” It cut to Crimson walking to the wall of his house, a nail placed on the wall as his shadow appeared on the wall, he then put Chaz’s jaws on his wall, the jaws were still covered with blood, indicating that this happened not too long after Chaz was killed. Then It showed Crimson’s face as he growled and threw the same bloody dagger at a picture of moxxie. As the credits started.
After the credits there was white text that said “R.I.P Chazwick Thurman.” Below the Text it showed a picture of Chaz’s mangled body, still with the lifeless dilated eyes staring at me. It sickened me to see his body again, I felt so nauseous that i grabbed the nearest trash can and vomited into it. “I think it’s done.” I thought “WTF WAS THAT?!” I was so confused about what to do now, should I call my parents and tell them to come home? Watch something to try to forget about that video? Just go to sleep? I didn’t know What I should even do. At that moment my parents came back home as the door swung open, I told them that everything was ok because I didn’t want them to be worried, but they did find the trash can full of vomit. I told them I ate something that upset my stomach, because I didn’t want to tell them about the episode because that would make them scared.
Next week I got to watch the newer version episode of the episode, I got nervous at certain parts near the end. At some parts I had to pause it because I thought it was going to go the same way as the other version. I was both traumatized and curious as to why Viv would create something like that first version. So I took my concerns to Reddit’s r/Helluva Boss to solve this mystery. But after weeks of trying to find answers I got nothing. nobody one on Reddit could answer my question. Until I got a comment on the post from a user named RainingHellSons39. Here is what they said.
“I actually know Vivziepop on twitter and I asked her about the original version of Exes And Oohs, she said that she did actually made a original version, that she didn’t really like, so she fixed the episode, she intended to make Chaz more of an asshole as a way to make audiences less sympathetic to him when he died. She felt that she made Chaz too mean spirited, so she changed Chaz’s character to be more goofy instead of rude. Chaz was also supposed to knock Blitzo out with a beer bottle, but she felt like it was too extreme of a way of knocking Blitzo out, so she changed it from a bottle to a syringe. Chaz’s death was also supposed to be onscreen, but after animating and editing the video she felt nauseous. Even just watching the scenes where Chaz was getting killed made her sick. So she redid the episode, had the voice actors redo some lines and cut some corners to make the newer version. I hope this helps.”
I know it’s stupid, but I still get nightmares about Chaz’s mangled body and I still wake up in the middle of the night, thinking about how horribly he was killed. I feel like I need some kind of closure to this story of mine because I got my answer, but I still feel like I was just hallucinating because the original episode was deleted after I watched it. I know that I’m still traumatized, but for all of you out there, please help me find the first version of the episode. If you can find it, send it to me. I need to know I’m not crazy. Even if I have to revisit my traumatic experiences again.
