JACKSON, Dec.

19 -1 near death as he drove onto the Friends said Mrs. Spencer had Edward G. Spencer, 44, was held in county jail here tonight without charge for questioning in the mysterious death by freezing of his young and pretty wife, Loretta. Deputy William Swartz, the turnkey, said Spencer was being questioned by authorities but that no statement from Spencer was yet available. Mrs.

Spencer, 21, was found frozen and dying at 8 a.m. today in the driveway of their fashionable country home two miles south of Jackson. The temperature was six below zero. The husband, executive in a Jackson moving company and father of seven children by a previous marriage, said he had not seen his young since she left Tuesday evening a Christmas wife. shopping jaunt.

But a deputy sheriff, ing the case, said he had nearby farmer who insisted he had seen Mr. and Mrs. Spencer togethin road a mile from er night in a car stuck Tuesday, their home. Quotes Farmer The deputy, Harold Yarger, quoted the farmer, H. F.

Brooks, as saying he came across the pair in a car at 10 or 10:30 p. m. The car was stuck in a ditch, Mr. Brooks said, and he asked the couple if they needed help. The man asked him to call 8 wrecker, Mr.

Brooks told the deputy. When the wrecker came one hour later the car deserted. Mr. Brooks insisted recognized Spencer by the clothes he was wearing. Soon after she was found, Mrs.

Spencer died in Foote hospital, her arms and legs frozen. This morning, after Mrs. Spencer's body had been discovered in the driveway, the car was found two miles away at a service station. Called Wrecker Attendants at the station said a had called before midnight Tuesday to have the car pulled out of a ditch about a mile from the Spencer home. Told there would be a delay of an hour, the man told the attendants to pick up the car and keep it at the station overnight.

The car was deserted when the wrecker arrived. Spencer told police he retired early after Mrs. Spencer left to go shopping. He awakened once in the middle of the night, saw his wife had not returned and surmised she was spending the night with her mother, Mrs. Myrtle Naylor, in Jackson.

Asked for Ride In the morning, learning that his wife and the car still had not come back, he said he called an employe, Melvin Crabill, and asked for a ride to the office. Mr. Crabill discovered Mrs. Spencer lying unconscious and Society of Certified Public Accountants, and American Institute of Management. Red Roster Omits 25 POWs Listed on Peace Petition Only 12 of 37 Purportedly Signing Appeal Now Reported in Prison Camps By The Associated Press Russia's Jacob A. Malik last August distributed a cable at the United Nations, purportedly signed by 37 American prisoners of war in Korea. A breakdown shows that 12 names on the Malik list appeared on the Communist list U. S. prisoners released today, and 1 25 were missing from the final list.

The discrepancy has not been explained. Mr. Malik said the men in the petition asked that U. S. troops withdraw from Korea to end senseless bloodshed." The statement peas, typical of manta which have attributed captured prisoners by the Communists in their propaganda broadcasts.
