On Tuesday, WESH 2 gained access to 911 calls made right after the incident.

"You need to send the police over here. The guy outside says he's been shot, and his dog has been shot," a caller says.

Daytona Beach police say a shooting victim managed to make it to a nearby home, where the homeowner called for help.

The dispatcher asked if the caller knew where the man was shot.

"No, ma'am. I didn't ask him, I didn't even give him time," the caller said.

When police responded to the scene, they found two men who had been shot inside a car with what the report says about "11 bullet holes in the driver's side front and rear doors."

Police say the driver was dead and had multiple gunshot wounds.

The other victim told investigators "he had been shot while riding as the passenger," the report says.

That man was taken to the Halifax Medical Center, where he had surgery.

"I think its senseless, it's ridiculous,” LaShandra Miles said.

Miles knows the grief of losing someone to gun violence.

"This is Lawrence, this is my son,” she said.

Twenty-four-year-old Lawrence Davis was shot to death during a confrontation at a car detailing business in Holly Hill on March 29, 2023.

Miles has turned her grief into action by reaching out to other families who lost loved ones to gun violence through her organization, "Turnaround Foundation."

"Just, you know, check in on them, see how they're doing, trying to motivate them. Let them know they're not alone,” Miles said.

There are no suspects in this most recent shooting, and the names of the victims are not being released at this time.

"If you know something, say something because these people aren't being held accountable for their actions, and that's why they continue to do it. And if we don't make them accountable, they will continue to do it,” Miles said.

Miles is planning a "Guns Down March” next month in Daytona Beach to let people know we are not going to tolerate this kind of violence.

June is National Gun Violence Awareness Month.
