Láylí Mediterranean is looking to take advantage of the outdoor space at 3033 Wilson Blvd.

Ballston Quarter will soon be home to a new all-you-can-eat hot pot and Korean barbecue restaurant.
Top Pot has begun appearing on signs around the mall, as well as on the shopping center’s website. The restaurant’s website lists the Ballston location as “coming soon” and signs indicate that it will be somewhere at street level — likely either inside the main mall or along Wilson Blvd.

NEW: Ballston Target robbery leads to bike and foot chase

A robbery suspect led police on a bike and then a foot chase Tuesday afternoon.
The incident started with a robbery of the Target store on N. Glebe Road in Ballston around 3:15 p.m. The suspect allegedly pushed an employee to the ground and then fled on a bicycle, with the stolen goods in tow.
Officers located the suspect on Carlin Springs Road and tried to stop him, but he continued on the bike before getting off and running from officers who gave chase on foot.

A race and a music festival will close roads in two Arlington neighborhoods this weekend.
Parts of two roadways in Pentagon City will be closed Saturday, June 15 for the ZERO Prostate Cancer 5k Run/Walk, which begins at 7:45 a.m.

Planned DCA pedestrian bridge teed up for $18M regional investment

Arlington is poised to accept $18 million in funding for a pedestrian bridge connecting Crystal City to Reagan National Airport.
A funding allocation from the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority is slated for consideration at an Arlington County Board meeting this Saturday. Construction on the project, dubbed the CC2DCA multimodal connection, is expected to begin in Fiscal Year 2028.

An Arlington parents group is pushing for more stringent rules around cellphones in the classroom.

An Arlington elementary school celebrated a major upgrade to its basketball court this week thanks to a local dad and some pro sports teams.
Mascots from the Washington Wizards and Mystics joined a crowd of third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students on Monday to mark the installation of four new basketball hoops at Barcroft Elementary School. Arlington County saw a rise in total crime from 2022 to 2023, including a nearly 20% increase in drug-related crimes, according to the police department’s new annual report.
The county tallied 474 instances of the production, distribution or use of illegal narcotics in 2023, up from the 2022 total of 396. Those were the “primary driver” in an increased rate of “crimes against society,” according to the report.

A new marker commemorating Black troops who fought in the Civil War has been installed at Fort Ethan Allen Park.
An official unveiling for the new sign at 3829 N. Stafford Street is scheduled for Thursday, June 20 — the day after Juneteenth. The marker commemorates the 107th United States Colored Troops, which ran drills and manned the ramparts at Fort Ethan Allen and other Arlington forts starting in October 1865, guarding D.C. following the end of the war.

Overnight I-395 chase ends with big crash, search for suspect near Shirlington

A drone, a helicopter and at least three police agencies helped to apprehend a driver who crashed during a chase early Monday morning.
The crash happened just after 1 a.m. as Virginia State Police chased a black Chevy Camaro from I-395 to Arlington Mill Drive, near Shirlington. State troopers originally tried to stop the Camaro for reckless driving on southbound I-395, according to a VSP spokesperson.

Man found guilty of 2023 Buckingham murder

An Arlington man has been convicted of a 2023 murder in the Buckingham neighborhood.
James R. Williams shot another man, Sean Bowman, to death in an apartment on N. Thomas Street on March 25, 2023, an Arlington jury found.
Prosecutors say Williams was “a known drug dealer” and shot Bowman twice in the head after accusing him of stealing drugs. Williams was arrested three days after Bowman’s body was discovered.

An officer responding to a call about a car playing loud music was struck by the driver as he attempted to flee, according to police.
The incident happened around 5 a.m. this past Saturday, on the 800 block of N. Wakefield Street, just west of Ballston.
Police say that the driver, a 23-year-old Arlington resident, also struck a parked car after striking the officer. The officer “did not report any injuries,” according to an Arlington County Police Department crime report, below.

The black bear that was roaming near Potomac Overlook parkover the weekend has made its way south.
The young bear has more recently been spotted in the Donaldson Run and Cherrydale neighborhoods. Photos and video shared with ARLnow Monday morning show the bear exploring driveways and and a park along N. Quebec Street, near Langston Blvd.
